History of the Grama Panchayat
Pudukad region is a major center of Kerala's rich cultural and religious heritage. Kurumalikavu located here is considered one of the famous eighteen and a half Kavas of Kerala. Along with the existence of many ancient temples and shrines in the area, unique art forms like Darika dance and Kalikali also flourished. It is believed that the place name "Pudukad" was formed through the St. Anthony's Church established in 1764. The socio-historical memories associated with Sree Narayana Guru and Vinoba Bhave also highlight the greatness of Pudukad.
